Living Beautifully with Palak, Founder of Embiria
By Laura R., Embiria Contributor
Embiria inspires you to live beautifully, every day. We’ll be sharing interviews with individuals we admire to discover what living beautifully means to them, and hope to help you discover the same. You’ll hear from leaders, entrepreneurs, community builders, and creatives as part of this exciting new series.
For our launch, we wanted to ask Embiria’s Founder how she lives beautifully, every day.
Here’s what she had to say…
Name: Palak Dave Loizides, Founder of Embiria
Industry: Lifestyle & Wellness
Social media handles: Instagram | Facebook | Pinterest
Your mission / purpose (for your company or passion project):
Inspiring people to live beautifully, every day through intimate events and experiences. We want people to live a full life — to enjoy slow and simple days, find more time for themselves, for the activities and people they love. A life where deep connections are formed, to those around them, and maybe even with themselves.
Is there a new project or something exciting you are currently working on?
We just launched our new at-home Experience Kits & Bundles which I’m really excited about. Now almost a year into a global pandemic, we’re spending time at home more than ever, so we’re hoping that through these new offerings in our Shop we can inspire people to make regular days feel like an experience!
What does living beautifully mean to you?
It means a life filled with places and people I love, being surrounded by things I find beauty in, and wanting to experience life fully every day…even in the little moments.
What do you do when you feel you need to slow down from the pace of everyday life?
I like to go for a walk or get some movement in. Disconnecting from my devices also helps. Making a cup of tea, getting under a cozy blanket and diving into a great book is lovely as well.
How do you connect meaningfully with the people in your life?
Normally it would be in-person visits with family and friends, and attending Embiria events to personally connect with our community. Since I haven’t been able to do that, I’m making more of an effort to call vs. text, and recently I’ve been writing letters and cards to friends! It’s been such a nice way to deliver a message via traditional mail - and it’s always a special surprise when they receive it.
Can you tell us about a beautiful place you have visited?
I love to travel and have been to over 35 countries so it’s hard to narrow down! There are so many beautiful places around the world. I spent a summer for school in Italy, and those rolling Tuscan hills and stunning piazzas will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve also been awe struck by the beaches in Greece, horses in majestic Iceland snow, and starry desert skies in Chile.
When you think of a beautiful meal you’ve had, what comes to mind?
A big bowl of cacio e pepe (pasta with cheese and pepper), and a glass of full-bodied red wine while sitting on a patio in Capri. Perfection.
How have you incorporated beautiful living at home during the pandemic?
My husband and I have really been creative during these times! We spend a lot of time thinking about how we can make every day experiences special while at home, and I think we’ve done that by leveraging things around our house to transform spaces in new ways. We’ve had dance parties in the kitchen, cooked lavish dinners, and enjoyed an afternoon high tea set-up in our living room! We’re also spending so much time on our outdoor patio to get fresh air - we use it for workouts, or for cozying up under blankets to read or watch the sunset or stars. Looking back, I think that’s quite beautiful.
What are some wellness essentials that help you live fully?
I love The Five Minute Journal that starts my day off well, my Saje diffuser for the wonderful scents around the house, and Spotify, which I can use to change the music according to my mood - I play a morning wake up playlist, no lyric coffeehouse music while working, and Christmas playlists on repeat for all of December (obviously!).
Do you have any daily “rituals” that you love?
I try to get some form of movement or exercise everyday, take a break to eat lunch away from my desk, and also sleep with my phone outside of my bedroom so I create space for myself around winding down and waking up.
Do you have a favourite quote that inspires you to live beautifully or makes you feel alive?
“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”
