With Embiria’s evolution to a lifestyle and well-being company, we want to help you make every day beautiful. We recently spent a weekend in Prince Edward County (PEC) – where time slowed down and we savoured our stay. We couldn’t wait to share our favourite spots and hidden gems for a beautiful weekend getaway. If you’re in the mood for delicious local eats & drinks, exploring the scenic countryside and relaxing at unique accommodations, keep reading!

Prince Edward County is an island in Lake Ontario made up of a cluster of small hamlets and villages where a love of good food, art, community and nature intersect. Only two hours east of Toronto, PEC gives us the refresh we need and a true taste of rural renaissance.

WINERIES

With over 30 wineries and some of the best wines in the province, you’re sure to give your palate a tasting adventure. While sipping on a chardonnay or rosé don’t forget to learn about the unique traditions and history behind the glass while taking in the beautiful backdrop. Some of our favourites include @karloestateswinery, @clossonchasevineyards, @grangewinery and @hinterlandwine.

EATS

Now we know why they call it the “bounty of the county”, PEC offers up a wide variety of options to satiate your inner-foodie. @lacondesapec provides the perfect vibrant punch if you’re feeling a little sluggish from your drive. There’s no better way to start your trip than with tacos and margaritas. Taking a quick pit stop? @lakeonthemountain offers spectacular views of the Bay of Quinte while you nosh. Did we mention charcuterie with a gorgeous sunset view…yes please! @quattroamicipec (featured right) took our breath away with beautifully handcrafted pasta in a rustic barn - you can even watch from above as the chefs prepare your meal. @flameandsmith was one of the best meals we’ve had in Ontario, with the ambience to match. They are a sustainably minded restaurant embracing the art of wood fire cooking. You’ll definitely want to make a reservation here!

CAFÉS

With the crisp autumn leaves beneath our feet and the chill of the winter on our heels, a warm beverage and some local treats allowed us to appreciate the season. We also felt that local farm to table vibe visiting these great spots. Check out @enidgrace.piccolina for traditional Italian pastries and snacks. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported as soon as you enter. Try @oaksurfclub for a great cup of coffee and two of our favourites @picnicpecfood and @bphmarket.

ACTIVITIES

Try a walk on the Millennium Trail stretching from Carrying Place to Picton if you’re needing to slow down and take in nature’s tranquillity. Looking for a one of a kind treasure to remember your stay? Shop @kokitopec, @wellingtonpottery, @carsonsgardenmarket, @fieldmadegoods, @keepcounty and @zestkitchenshop.

STAY

Quaint, contemporary, boutique, rustic, minimalist? Finding a retreat that fits your travel style is all part of the fun. There are no big-brand hotel chains here, so take your pick of something beautiful and unique! We recommend: @themeadowhousepec (featured left), @lyttletonpec, @hyggehousepec, @wandertheresort (opens Dec 1st). If you want something with a more traditional hotel feel, you can always try to get a room @thedrake by the water in the heart of Wellington.
